No accounts exist. BornUnder has no sign-up, no login, and no user database.
Your birth details stay in your browser. The date, time and place you enter are stored in this device's own local storage and are never sent anywhere. The chart is computed here, on your device, from those details.
Writing a reading is the one thing your device cannot do alone, so this is exactly what happens when you ask for one.
Sent for composition: the computed chart — planetary positions, houses, aspects, the figures you can see on your own screen — goes to the writing engine so the reading can be written against a real sky. Your name, your birth date and your birth place are not sent. The positions are astronomical facts about a moment; they are not a name, an address, or a login.
Kept afterwards: the finished reading is stored on the server so that asking for it again returns the same document instead of writing — and charging for — a second one. A birth chart never changes, so neither should its reading.
Filed under an anonymous fingerprint. Stored readings are filed under a digest computed from your birth moment, not under the birth moment itself. To be plain about what that does: it means your birth details are not sitting in a server index as readable text. It does not mean the fingerprint is a secret — the code that computes it is public, so someone holding the file names and guessing a birth moment could test the guess. We would rather tell you that than let “hashed” sound like a promise it is not.
Readings of the sky itself — today's sky, a city's day — are filed under the city and the date. Everyone reading that city's sky reads the same document. There is nothing personal in them to keep.
Nothing is profiled. Stored readings are not linked to each other, to an identity, to an email, or to anything you do on the site. There is no user record to build one from.
No tracking. No analytics cookies, no advertising pixels, no fingerprinting, no third-party trackers. The site keeps a simple anonymous visit tally (a number, nothing more). Because nothing requires consent, there is no cookie banner — there is nothing to consent to.
The letterbox. If you write to the Keeper, the email address you provide is used only to reply to you. It is not added to any list, shared, or sold.
Local storage. The app stores your chart, your kept readings, and your preferences in your browser so they remain yours between visits. Clearing your browser data removes every one of them from this device, including your birth details.
Having it forgotten. Clearing your browser does not reach the readings kept on the server — your device is the only thing that knows their file names, so once it forgets them, no one can find them to delete them. If you want them gone, use “have it forgotten” on the Your Chart screen before clearing anything. It wipes this device and asks the server to delete every reading stored against your chart, and it tells you plainly which of those two halves succeeded.
BornUnder computes the real sky and reads it through named interpretive traditions. The computation is fact; the interpretation is tradition, offered and held lightly — never asserted as fact and never a prediction of events.
Readings are orientation and reflection. They are not medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice, and they are not a substitute for the judgement of qualified professionals in any of those fields. Decisions you make remain your own — in the app's own words, you remain the one who travels the year.
The experimental harmonic layer (after John Addey) is clearly marked as a modern, unproven hypothesis wherever it appears.
When paid readings open, this section will state the terms plainly: what a purchased reading is (a document written once and kept for you), how it is delivered, the guarantee and the correction courtesy, refunds in accordance with Australian Consumer Law, and Queensland, Australia as the governing jurisdiction. Nothing here will ever be a surprise.
